Actions for employees


We consider them our most valuable asset that significantly contributes to both economic results and establishing a good reputation for the ArcelorMittal brand in the region. The sums spent on education, improvement of safety and creation of a positive atmosphere at the workplace amount to tens of millions Czech crowns every year. It goes without saying that ArcelorMittal Ostrava respects human rights unconditionally. The Company employees always act in compliance with the legislation in force, as well as with the Company Code of Conduct whose regulation of relationships is even more specific than that of legal regulations. The Company Code of Conduct describes in detail e.g. what is regarded as conflict of interest, how to deal with confidential or personal information etc. All employees have been acquainted with the provisions of the Code at special training sessions.

ArcelorMittal Ostrava takes a fair and undiscriminating approach to all its employees. In its Code of Conduct the Company undertakes e.g.:

- to provide a work environment that is free from any form of sexual or other harassment
- to ensure that each employee is treated with fairness and dignity
- never to tolerate any discriminatory practice based on race, colour, sex, age, religion, ethnic or national origin, disability or any other unlawful basis
- to provide all employees with equal opportunities
- to distinguish between employees based on aptitude or qualifications

ArcelorMittal recognized employees with 25 years of service

Photo On Wednesday 14 October our company set up a special gala evening for its employees. Everybody who has been working at our company for 25 years was invited. A total of 236 employees received a watch from CEO in recognition for their long term service.

Weather did not deter either children or CEO

Photo Even the chilly and rainy weather did not deter hundreds of children from having fun at number of attractions set up for them outside the headquarters building. The new CEO, Augustine Kochuparampil, also came to see employees’ families and children (see photo).

Children enjoyed their prize – trip to Bolek Polívka’s farm

Photo The children of ArcelorMittal Ostrava’s employees took part in a KIWANIS doll competition – they were thinking up names and stories for the cloth dolls which help children in the hospitals. In return they won a one day trip to celebrate the International Children Day at the Bolek Polívka’s farm.

ArcelorMittal Frýdek-Místek takes care of employee’s children

Photo In March the multipurpose sports hall in Frýdek-Místek was crowded with children of ArcelorMittal employees. CEO, Tomáš Mischinger in conjunction with the ice hockey club HC Frýdek-Místek prepared for them a Sunday morning full of attractions on the ice rink.

New changing rooms for Heavy-Section Rolling Mill employees

Photo New changing rooms for employees of Heavy-Section Rolling Mill were ceremoniously opened on Friday, December 19, 2008. Changing rooms with brand new cabinets, heating and toilet facilities have been available to employees since January 2009.

St. Nicholas Day for our employees’ children
